Civil ceremonies

Royal Windsor Racecourse is delighted to confirm that we are licensed to hold civil ceremonies in the Royal Suite. This suite can accommodate up to 200 guests and can also be partitioned so that smaller ceremonies can take place.

Booking your ceremony

For your wedding to take place at Royal Windsor Racecourse, you are required to have two registration officers for the ceremony. You are able to provisionally book their attendance up to 12 months prior to the wedding date. To do this you must attend in person the Windsor and Maidenhead office.

It is not possible for us to book the services of the registrar on your behalf, so please telephone the Superintendent Registrar, Mrs Kathy Atkinson, to arrange an appointment on 01628 796 422. Opening hours are 9.30am - 4.00pm Monday to Friday.

The Superintendent Registrar will complete an advance booking pro-forma showing our details including your address, venue, date and time. On making a provisional booking the Superintendent will inform you of the date when you must give legal notice of the marriage.

When you attend the Registrars' office to book your marriage you will be required to pay the attendance fee for the registrars. You may also choose to pay in advance the fee for the marriage certificate.

Ceremony guidelines

Only a civil, non-religious ceremony can be permitted by the Superintendent Registrar. Any music, readings, words or performance which forms any part of the ceremony must be secular and any rights of copyright for these are a matter for the holder of the approval. The content of the ceremony must be agreed in advance with the Superintendent Registrar who will be attending the ceremony.

Please remember that without this booking your wedding can not take place, and that it is your responsibility to ensure that all of the legal preliminaries to your wedding are completed and that the registration officers are available to conduct your ceremony as neither this establishment nor anyone else can do this for you
