Royal Windsor Racecourse will celebrate the official opening of the brand new Gastro@RoyalWindsor Steakhouse on Monday 8 April, as racing returns for the 2019 season.
Gastro@RoyalWindsor is a new dining experience at Royal Windsor Racecourse, and will offer top quality steaks from around the world alongside a wide selection of vegetarian dishes within a beautiful dining space located within the historic Grandstand.
The restaurant will offer up to 100 racegoers the chance to enjoy a three-course set menu, and will be open throughout Royal Windsor’s 26 fixtures from Monday 15 April to Monday 21 October.
The concept and design of Gastro@RoyalWindsor has been completed by Vinny Freulon, Catering Manager at the racecourse.
The menu was designed by Head Chef Michael Duckett, Sous Chef Alex Clawson along with Vinny Freulon. It includes a 35oz Tomahawk Steak, the restaurant’s signature dish, alongside a fillet of beef from prime English cattle from Ridings Reserve. A classic Knickerbocker Glory brings fun, imagination and colour to Gastro@RoyalWindsor’s dessert menu.
A highlight of the wine list is a champagne from the vineyard of former French Champion Jockey and multiple Group 1 winner, Olivier Peslier, alongside a wide selection of wines from around the world.
Executive Director of Royal Windsor Racecourse Simon Williams said, “2018 was a tremendous year at Royal Windsor Racecourse, and we’ve been working hard over the winter to make sure we are making further improvements for our customers to enjoy. Gastro@RoyalWindsor will offer a really different dining experience from anything we’ve hosted before, and we think that it will be a great edition to the racecourse”
Catering Manager of Royal Windsor Racecourse Vinny Freulon said, “Gastro@RoyalWindsor will offer a new experience for our customers throughout the season. It will be the place to come on our famous Monday Night Racing fixtures, for those who want delicious steaks accompanied by a handpicked wine list.
There will be a number of options for customers to choose from to make sure that their meal is exactly to their taste, and the addition of Olivier Peslier’s champagne to the wine lists gives us an excellent link to our racing heritage also.”
