Royal Windsor Racecourse is delighted to announce their partnership with Thames Hospice.

Based in the heart of the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead, Thames Hospice is a charity providing vital care and support to people living with life-limiting illnesses. Thames Hospice is proud to have been serving the community across Berkshire and South Buckinghamshire for more than 30 years.

It costs £8 million every year to keep the Hospice running. It relies on our community for over 50% of the funds they have to raise annually to provide services free of charge, 365 days a year, to the people who desperately need it.

Thames Hospice is one of the busiest independent hospices in the UK, but is now no longer able to keep up with the increasing number of people who urgently need its services. After several months of planning, Thames Hospice was granted planning permission in 2017 to build a new, larger state-of-the-art hospice. Set in eight stunning acres by Bray Lake, the new hospice will include 28 private inpatient rooms all with en-suites and space for families to stay overnight. It will be able to double its day services provision in a dedicated Day Therapy Centre, and a brand-new education centre and library which will enable the hospice to support community healthcare professionals involved in end-of-life care as well as carers.

Its dream is finally becoming reality as construction of the new £22 million hospice started at the beginning of this year and will be completed by the summer of 2020. Thames Hospice is asking our community to come together to help them raise the final £3 million fundraising target needed to create this transformational new community facility that will benefit local people for generations to come.

On Monday 27 May 2019 it’s Royal Windsor Racecourse’s Family Fun Day with the chance to experience just how it feels to be a jockey with a racehorse simulator when contributing a minimum of £1 to raise funds for Thames Hospice. Careersinracing are very happy to support this worthy cause by providing their racehorse simulator for the day. Careersinracing promotes careers, jobs and training in the horseracing industry and the racecourse are delighted to be joined by BHA Jockey Coach Nick Bentley and Careersinracing Representative Sean Simara for the day.

Their racehorse simulator works all of the essential muscles needed by the jockey to win a race, is the perfect tool for aspiring jockeys and simulates perfectly the smooth flowing ride of a galloping horse. Royal Windsor Racecourse will be hosting a racehorse simulator competition and will offer a prize for the person who can complete the most strides within a recorded period of time. Experience the position of a jockey on Monday 27 May and help raise funds for Thames Hospice.

There will also be exhilarating races throughout the day for everyone to enjoy and a host of FREE entertainment. It is recommended that tickets are purchased in advance of Monday 27 May 2019 as they will be in great demand. Tickets are available from £14 in advance from the website or by calling the Royal Windsor Racecourse Office 01753 498400.

Donate today to help fund the future of local hospice care. Please visit Thames Hospice’s website at www.thameshospice.org.uk/donate or speak to the Fundraising Team on 01753 842121 to see the many ways you can support.
