The Genting Bet Gentlemen’s Day Ft. Ministry of Sound with Basement Jaxx is one of the highlights of the summer season at Windsor Racecourse.

Britain’s premier casino and sportsbook operator GentingBet has signed a deal to be the title sponsor, putting its name to four of the seven races and ensuring a top-class card on Saturday, 29 June, 2019.

GentingBet offers ‘Best Odds Guaranteed’ on every single UK and Irish race meeting – check out the latest horse racing odds.

The feature is the Listed GentingBet Midsummer Stakes, won last year by the Amanda Perrett-trained Zhui Feng, whose previous success came in the 2017 Royal Hunt Cup.

This year’s renewal marks the 16th running of this mile contest for horses aged three years and upwards.

The GentingBet Midsummer Stakes has a rich history and has rarely failed to deliver a worthy winner.

On official ratings, Kodi Bear, who won off a mark of 115, was arguably the best winner of this event in 2015. As a juvenile, he’d finished runner-up in the Group 1 Dewhurst Stakes at Newmarket.

Making his three-year-old debut for Clive Cox in the Midsummer Stakes, Oisin Murphy rode him to victory by three-quarters of a length, and he went on to take a Group 3 at Salisbury and the Group 2 Celebration Mile at Goodwood later that season.

Multiple Group winner Gateman was a prolific money-spinner for Mark Johnston and he landed the inaugural running in 2004, the last of his 11 career victories. Along with 2016 winner Gabrial, he was also the oldest winner of this contest at the age of seven.

Many horses use this as a stepping stone to bigger things and Librettist, the shortest-priced winner of the Midsummer Stakes at 2/5 in 2006, went on to win both the Group 1 Prix Jacques le Marois and the Prix de Moulin for Godolphin trainer Saeed bin Suroor later that season.

In 2014, the David O’Meara-trained Custom Cat gained the first of five successive victories when opening his account in this race. The next four wins included success in a pair of Group 3 contests and the Group 2 Joel Stakes at Newmarket.
