We are truly thrilled that the Royal Windsor Racing Syndicate horse, The Wicked Wolf, won for the first time yesterday in the 3.40 race at Bath over 1 mile.

In only his third outing, The Wicked Wolf was widely fancied to go close after a promising 3rd place at Chelmsford last month when he finished strongly after a sluggish start and set off at Bath as the 3/1 Favourite. Once again ‘Wolfie’ struggled out of the starting stalls and was at the back of the field as the horses turned into the home straight, but found a path on the outside, turned on the after-burners, and came storming down the final furlong to win in a photo finish over Pantile’s Gift.

Jockey William Carver was delighted with the win afterwards saying “I got him to relax and into a rhythm, we came off the straight and I thought we better get rolling now… once I asked him the question to go forward, he just kept going and going and going the whole way up to the line.”

Wolfie was greeted in the Winner’s Enclosure by a host of Old Gold Racing syndicate members. Over 2,000 shares have been sold for The Wicked Wolf after Royal Windsor Racecourse partnered up with Old Gold Racing earlier this year to purchase Wolfie at the Doncaster Breeze-Ups in April and he has been training with Jamie Osborne at his Lambourn yard ever since.

No decision has been made yet on when The Wicked Wolf will next be running, but clearly there is much excitement about how he will perform next year as a 3 year old, with racing again at Royal Windsor firmly on his radar.
