01 October 2018

Royal Windsor Racecourse is launching a brand new autumn menu this October, exclusively for its 1866 restaurant.

The menu will be available at Oktoberfest on 8 October, Autumn Afternoon Racing on 15 October and the last fixture of 2018, Free Racing Afternoon on 22 October.

Designed to champion local suppliers, the seven-course tasting menu will showcase the best produce from local farms and fishmongers. To complete the culinary experience, a talk will be provided by a local supplier and an accompanying wine pairing will be available to compliment each dish.

The autumnal menu will include dishes such as butternut squash mousse with roasted chestnuts, parsnip crisps and pumpkin oil; beef medallion with Savoy cabbage wrapped oxtail, cep mushroom mash, Jerusalem artichoke and port jus and toffee apple tarte Tatin, blackberry crème brûlée and rhubarb crumble.

Vinny Freulon Catering Manager at Royal Windsor Racecourse, said: “We are incredibly fortunate to be in an area full of brilliant food suppliers and we wanted to be able to celebrate each of them throughout our month of gastronomy. Our exclusive autumn menu will introduce our diners to lesser known suppliers and showcases a wide range of produce grown and made nearby, including pumpkins, fish, cheese and baked goods.”

The newest restaurant at the racecourse, 1866 offers superb panoramic views of the racing in elegant and comfortable surroundings.
